Spaceport construction set to begin on UK’s northernmost island

Construction of the SaxaVord spaceport on the Shetland Islands in the north of Scotland is set to begin soon with the aim of hosting the first British vertical orbital launch later this year.

SaxaVord UK Spaceport will next work to establish launch facilities to host the UK Pathfinder Launch project led by Lockeed Martin. The mission aims to put six CubeSats in orbit using a small, 89 feet (27 meters) long RS1 rocket made by California-based startup ABL Space Systems.
